Located at the intersection of I-59 and US 49 and near the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi, the site location for the Sleep Inn development is ideal. Unfortunately, the site topography was less than ideal. In order to create enough room for the structure and the parking areas, several retaining walls were needed. In some areas, the parking came up to the back of the walls. In other areas, the building came as close as 10' to the back edge of the wall. To further complicate matters, the soils on site were not suitable for use as backfill behind the walls. Faced with several critical design issues, the owner called Synergy to provide a design/build pagckage for the walls on his site. .

Synergy worked closely with the owner's design team to make sure that all of the design issues were addressed for this site. The design had to consider items such as global stability and the loadings from the building foundations. With in-house engineers preparing plans, Synergy addressed the critical needs of the project. The final design consisted of 5 retaining walls that amounted to almost 12,000 sf. The project was completed in September 2007.
