Just to the east of Nashville is SR 109 which runs from I-40 to Gallatin, TN. Before reaching Gallatin, SR 109 has a very large bridge that crosses the Cumberland River. The bridge was being reconstructed to accommodate more traffic. On the southeast corner of the bridge, a portion of the approach embankment required a retaining wall to keep the new construction within the state right-of-way and off of Reba McIntire’s property, which was just to the east of SR 109 at the river.

Mountain States Contractors was looking for a qualified design/build company to perform the work on the wall for this project. Recognizing the value of bringing a TDOT approved design/build contractor to do the work, they contracted with Synergy to design and build the wall. Working closely with Mountain Sates, Synergy was able to design and construct the wall in a timely fashion. The final design required just over 8,000 sf of retaining wall to be built with a maximum height of 24’. The project was successfully completed in the Fall of 2012.
